"I was asked in early 2001 by a drum
students, a middle school teacher if I would be interested
in doing a careers day event. How would one suggest that being
a drummer was the path to take? Noisy, drive you parents crazy
so I looked at putting a spin on it, after all its still a a
job, you have to turn up on time and you have to be a team player
just like any other career so, off we went"
'Inspiring others
for a great future' The original 'Making it Count' program
The 'Making
it Count' events set up by drummer 'Garry King' in the early 2000's
with sound engineer and bassist 'Scott Hodges' were a successful
way of inspiring and explaining important life fundamentals
to impressionable students and the public, particularly youngsters,
through a medium they can easily understand - music and entertainment.
The shows aired to over 12,000 students
and members of the public, over a period of only a year in the
USA but also in Brazil, and France.
'The concept: Using experiences and
the power of drums and music to relay the key message that you
can do something with your life if you choose to do so. These workshops
captivate the audience with not only player's skills and humorous
stories from the road, but specifically focus on some simple life
rules often now overlooked which formed the pillars of success,
including the three R's: Reliability - Responsibility - Respect
"I
am so impressed with Garry's drive and passion to reach out
to children and people of all ages. M.I.C's positive message
is needed now more than ever. Their talent speaks volumes
and will inspire, empower, and heal people for years to come!"

"The message is
a universal one for students at mid-school and high school
level and one they can't hear too often. If you are a potential
underwriter for this endeavor, I would encourage you to give
it every consideration for your financial participation".
